Slide gloves are used in longboarding not just as protection should you fall, but so you can intentionally put your hands down on the road without grazing your skin. A hand plant during a tight carve can act as a pivot when you want to execute a tight sliding manoeuvre. They can also help you catch your balance while carving, as the hard PU pucks slide when you need them to, unlike the bare palm of your hand. Use them as skating protection while downhill longboarding, when a hand plant may be less intentional when sliding on the brakes.
